Yael Merlini

Merlini

Yael Merlini is a poet, a mother of three, an Italian, and a passionate teacher. She was born in Florence where she completed her studies in Classical Languages and Literature. For her PhD in Semitic Linguistics she moved to Jerusalem and remained there until 2003 working at the Hebrew University as Researcher in the project "Lexicon of Late Biblical Hebrew“. In 2005 she moved to Germany and has lived and worked in Berlin since 2016. She is an active member of Ze Kollel, an inclusive and pluralist European response to traditional Torah study, which gives birth to new and radical Talmudic commentaries; and of Yiddish Berlin, poetic and cultural encounters in Yiddish. She recently published a book of poems on the theme of the inner diaspora From Home to Home. A second collection Split Tongue is scheduled for publication in early 2024.
