We sent out a call for articles and thought papers on the topic of women and leadership, many of which are published below. As the centerpiece of these resources, Rabbi Jeffrey Fox, Yeshivat Maharat’s Rosh Yeshiva, has developed a comprehensive resource guide on the topics of semikha (ordination) and serara (coercive authority) comprising both contemporary and original sources. Contained in this article are the halakhic stepping stones to help understand why women can and do indeed receive semikha, and are empowered to serve in a religious leadership capacity.
