Beit Midrash Program, Class of 2026

Shira Huizing was born in India and currently lives in the Netherlands. She is a researcher focused on governance inaction and meaningful participation, grounded in the conviction that policies should be shaped by the people they serve. Her work centres on the belief that government must support, not criminalise, its citizens. Alongside her academic work, Shira studies Jewish texts and traditions, with specific interests in the identity and belonging of Jewish adoptees, as well as in Jewish concepts of governance and their interaction with secular structures throughout history.
