emerging scholars award

The Emerging Scholars Award, funded by Maharat, celebrates women who are high school seniors and have demonstrated a personal commitment to leadership, spirituality and Torah learning.  The award seeks to acknowledge these young women for their accomplishments and dedication, while supporting their continued growth.

criteria and qualifications:

Recipients will be chosen based on:

  • Proven impact through leadership in school or in the larger community.

  • Demonstrated commitment to meaningful Torah learning and spiritual development.

 

The nominated candidate must:

  • Identify as female and Orthodox.

  • Be in her senior year of high school in 2019-2020.

  • Reside in the United States or Canada.

  • Serve in a leadership role in the school or community.

  • Be involved in an ongoing Torah learning experience (in a Day School or other setting).

  • Be nominated by a teacher, administrator, or community leader.

award:

Recipients will receive:

  • $2500 scholarship to be used for college tuition or Jewish gap year program.

  • Ongoing mentorship from a Maharat scholar.

  • Special opportunities to connect with other people who are committed to Torah and leadership.

  • Public recognition in promotional materials.

  • Travel to (awardee and a guest) and recognition at the Maharat Semikha Ceremony on June 9, 2020.
