Seeking Development Consultant

Yeshivat Maharat is seeking a development consultant to work with the President and professional leadership team along with the Board Chair and Development Committee on a number of discrete financial resource development projects.

Yeshivat Maharat is the first institution to ordain Orthodox women as rabbinic leaders.  Founded in 2009 with $900, we have grown our budget to $1.7 million in 2018 with projections to grow to $2.2 million next year. This projected growth is based on the recent completion of  a strategic plan that calls for our continued infrastructure and programmatic growth, coupled with a unique opportunity to benefit from a 1:2 match that would infuse the organization with $750,000 in new capital over the next 18 months. Beginning September 1, 2018 we will also be entering our 10th year and would like to leverage our 10th Anniversary for fundraising purposes.

We are looking for a consultant who will :

  • Craft a development strategy and campaign around our 10th Anniversary (using our successful grassroots annual Hineni Campaign as the base). This campaign brings in close to $300,000 and runs from November 2018-February 2019.

  • Craft and support a development strategy to reach our goal of raising $500k in new money over the next 18 months. We see accomplishing this by:

    • Increasing the gifts of current major donors (including many multi-year donors)

    • Develop strategy for shepherding current lower level donors up in commitment level

    • Researching and applying to new Foundations both inside and outside the Jewish community.

    • Identifying corporate and private foundations that are interested in feminism and creating gender equity.

    • Identifying new individual donors across the US

  • Provide support to the President in preparing materials for individual major asks.

  • Create a menu of naming options for major donors, including legacy and endowment options.

  • Track and evaluate our metrics and benchmarks, and adjust strategy if needed

Project will run from August 2018- December 2019, with a possibility of extension. Consultant will be asked to spend approximately 4 days a month in the Yeshivat Maharat office and also participate in development committee meetings and full board meetings. All additional work can be done remotely. Pay is commensurate with experience.
